My goal is to be more intentionally active for the next 30 days, and I will document my progress here. Check back to read my daily updates and see what I come across during this journey over the next month. Better yet, why don’t you join me?
This will be a very loose, self-guided documentation of the baby steps I take each day. Hopefully you will be inspired.
I found a stretching app that I really enjoy, and have been using it off and on for the past couple of months. It’s called Sworkit (sworkit.com) and it gives you a different set of exercises to do each time you use it. You can set the amount of time you stretch from 5 – 60 minutes.
I have only yet used it for five minutes at a time, and they show you examples of both males and females performing the exercises, so you know exactly what you should be doing. While I use it on iOS, a quick Google search showed me it is available on Android as well.
I am not affiliated with sworkit in any fashion, nor have I received any type of compensation for recommending this app – I just like it.
Day 1 Results:
- 5 minute stretch
- 15 minute outdoor walk
- 10 minutes cardio
- Steps: 7345
- Water: 37 oz. (I only include pure water in this total, not sparkling or flavor-enhanced. Personal preference. Feel free to include all the water you drink in your own count.)
- Fitbit Active Minutes: 56 (This isn’t the most accurate of measurements, but it’s what I got.)
It is going to take my body a minute to adjust, but if you are thinking of increasing your water intake, be prepared for many bathroom breaks until your body gets used to it. Many. As in, if you visit a new place during this phase, look for the restrooms first.
This meme I saw on FB is 100% accurate:
