More often than not, there is a gap between what you want to do and what you can do. Working to make improvements in your life is no different. Whether these improvements are financial, behavioral, spiritual, physical, or mental, it does not matter. You may want to do something and get frustrated when things are not happening the way you want them to.
In this last month of 2019, remember that everything takes time. As I’ve mentioned before on this blog, habits take time to develop, and nothing (generally speaking) happens overnight. Embrace the journey and try to exercise patience. It is not an easy thing to do, and I do not want you to think I am telling you anything I have not gone through myself. It is easy to look at something from the outside and tell someone what they should do, but this is not that place.
I want to have my life together. I want to pay down my debt and have some money saved. I want to stick to a budget. I want to lose five pounds and keep them off. I want to be more organized. I want to de-clutter my house. I want to step up my planner game. Or do I?
When asked about working, or how work is going, I usually jokingly respond that I haven’t woken up independently wealthy yet, so I continue to work. Truthfully, nothing happens overnight in a vacuum, so you cannot expect to achieve your goals without actively working on them Every. Single. Day. If I am not working towards my goals, how should I expect to achieve them?
As they say, “it takes 10 years to become an overnight success”. Don’t wait for the new year. Now is a great time.
Let’s get started.
